Automation Alley is working to ensure that its mission and the work it has done over the years will continue for future generations. In 2013, the association will strive to raise awareness of the Automation Alley Fund, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that can receive charitable gifts.
Automation Alley Director of Philanthropy Kim Cross will lead the fundraising efforts for the fund. “We are very fortunate to live in one of the most philanthropic areas of our country,” Cross says. “The Automation Alley Fund provides an opportunity for individuals, corporations and foundations to give charitable gifts to help us increase our efforts to support business diversification and encourage economic and workforce development activities in Southeast Michigan.”
The fund will support the programs and services of Automation Alley, including nurturing and sustaining a variety of entrepreneurial opportunities and workforce-driven initiatives, including:
• Business attraction services aimed at assisting companies with the creation of business plans, access to technical/financial information and support with operational success and regulatory matters
• Business assistance programs to sustain and grow companies
• Defense initiatives
• Seed fund investments to qualifying companies in Southeast Michigan
• STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) initiatives for students, teachers and members of the workforce
• Trade missions to international and domestic locales
“A charitable gift to the Automation Alley Fund is a wise investment in Southeast Michigan’s future,” Cross says. “The end result is to fund and sponsor programs that will create jobs in Southeast Michigan. At Automation Alley, we measure success in the way our business acceleration programs and initiatives impact people’s lives.”
